7 November 2019 - The Epping Club is proud to announce they are the 2019 recipient of the Clubs and Community Award.
Following the completion of their Karonga Schools multi sports courts upgrade the venue has been recognised for its extraordinary 12 month project raising over $60,000.
The Clubs and Community Awards are a statewide initiative, celebrating the meaningful impacts of Clubs within their local area. The awards were developed over a decade ago as an opportunity to share the stories and recognise the outstanding contributions made by clubs in their local communities. The most important measure of success for this award is ongoing, strategic and measurable contribution over a long period.
In 2018, Karonga was selected by The Epping Club to be their largest single benefactor under the ClubGrants Program, an initiative which sees Registered Clubs contribute funds back into the local community.
This partnership saw The Epping Club work with Karonga to upgrade the school’s multi-sports court. With a new surface, line markings, fencing and access pathways the improvements makes participation in sport and physical activity more accessible to the students as well as ensuring safer and easier play.
Principal Mark Gosbell commented of the partnership, ‘We are thrilled with the new facilities and truly cannot measure the benefits this will bring to the students of Karonga both now and in the future. This is a true example of a Community Club making lasting impacts in their wider community. We are delighted to see The Epping Club receive this award; it is well deserved.’
CEO Peter Saez said his greatest satisfaction is in seeing the benefit of the project to the students of Karonga and his pride in assisting the school to continue its exceptional work with special needs children.
‘We have always admired the great work the Karonga School does, and we are delighted to have been able to achieve this project for them. My team and I are passionate that The Epping Club leaves a meaningful footprint in the local area and we believe this is very much part of this project. We are delighted to win this award and are now further motivated to continue with our work in this area.’
Board President David Taylor further commented, ‘This award is the culmination of 12 months hard work and we are so please to receive this acknowledgement. At The Epping Club we not only believe in creating community but also contributing to it. This year we have been able to distribute almost half a million dollars through the ClubGrants Program supporting many charities, associations, schools and community groups. These donations are part of our commitment to making an impactful, meaningful and valuable difference in our locale. This is not a one off but the continuation of a commitment we have made to our members and community.’
