Epping Club Hosts Tea-Riffic Event for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea

Epping Club Hosts Tea-Riffic Event for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea

23 May 2024 - The Epping Club this week hosted its first ever Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, an outstanding event with a sold-out crowd of 300 attendees. All proceeds were directed towards cancer research and support services, aiming to bring Australia closer to a cancer-free future via the NSW Cancer Council.

Headlining the event, Australia's 1960’s rock n roll icon, Normie Rowe, was the guest speaker. Famous for hit songs like "It Ain't Necessarily So," "Que Sera Sera," and "Shakin' All Over," Rowe shared personal stories about his life, music, and extraordinary rise to fame.

Rowe commented of the event, “It was great to be part of this important gathering on Thursday morning. Everybody has a family member or loved one who has been impacted by cancer and this was a great opportunity to bring community together and raise funds for an outstanding cause.”

Peter Saez, CEO of The Epping Club, expressed his enthusiasm, commenting, "We love community events, especially when it’s a cause so close to so many hearts. Connection and community are vital parts of our club culture. I'm pleased that we participated in our first Australia's Biggest Morning Tea—with this sell-out crowd, it clearly is something our members are passionate about, and so am I!”

Kelly Dinnerville from Cancer Council NSW said this year Cancer Council NSW was hoping to raise more than $5 million across the state to continue their life-saving cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support programs.

“For 31 years, Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea has brought together many people living in NSW over a cup of tea in support of those affected by cancer,” Ms Dinnerville said.

“Since it began in 1993, Cancer Council’s generous community of supporters across Australia have raised more than $224 million by hosting morning teas. It is great to see NSW registered Clubs participating and helping raise funds in their local communities.”

The morning also featured a performance by the highly acclaimed Ku-ring-gai Male Choir. An institution of Sydney’s Northern Suburbs for more than 70 years this highly skilled group who are the longest standing Australian choir of the MCAA brought joy to the event with their incredible musicality especially their rendition of ‘Bridge over Troubled Water’ which was responsible for tears throughout the room!

The Epping Club is pleased to have shared a "tea-riffic" time with their members whilst supporting a fabulous cause. With almost 1 in 2 Australians diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85 every dollar raised funds vital research to change this statistic.
